The head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, yesterday, received one of the last jersey to be adorned by the legendary Barcelona and Spain midfield maestro Andre Iniester.
Anna Vives, a designer and friend of Iniester, delivered on behalf of the player from La Mancha, one of the last shirts that eternal player of Barca wore.
He wrote "For Pope Francis with a lot of affection"
The Pontiff, a great fan, and admirer of Iniester was very grateful to Anna and Andres.
Andre Iniester's shirt will be part of the football museum that Pope Francis has in the Vatican's interior.
The La Massia graduate recently severed ties with the Blaugrana, albeit on the football pitch, securing a move to J1 side Kobe, and the void he left behind in the Barca midfield will surely be hard to fill.
